Completed!

After the audio was put in I also put in the logo whenever it was mentioned and the credits. The order of the video went like this: first was the monolog by Cathy followed by dancing! Then came the interview with Katniss followed by the Hunger Games trailer. Then featuring the letter from Aphra Behn with a gift from Cathy and FM. After that was the segment of instagrammies featuring Edna and all her affairs. To wrap it up all the characters joined Cathy in the car for some Carpool Karaoke. At last the final scene was Cathy thanking everyone for coming followed by more dancing! Overall t looked pretty good I like the video all the songs I used in the video are also present in the Feminist Spotify playlist:

That I also liked to our video on YouTube :
https://youtu.be/siT7QHciN8c
I created the playlist with songs about boss women or preformed by boss women and I hope to add more songs to it later! Summer made tickets to give to the class when they walk into the classroom for the live Cathy show! And after our presentation we will wear the shirts we created!! I'm so excited we present Thursday. All the information is also on a poster created by Mackenzie which is posted in Mr. Bowers classroom!!!

Editing

I have finally finished editing the video!!! It was the biggest pain ever!!! So at first I had to get a new editing software because movie maker was unable to do things I needed to my video... So I researched different video editing softwares and most of them have free trials before you buy them because they are expensive. I found one called Power Director that seemed like it had the tools to complete my project. I started he free trial and began uploading videos.. The only problem was that I have never seen this software before so I first had to learn how to use it! Then came a ton of trial and error and more research. Once I got the hang of it I add all my clips and put them in order and trimmed all of them. The tough parts was when I added the music... It was very hard to synchronize the music to our lips moving and lip syncing to the songs. Power director has a feature where you can spread he timeline out very late to see milliseconds which ended up helping me begin the music at the right time and line it up at the correct spots.

FM

We decided on a logo for the company sponsoring the Cathy show. It's called FM. We are not putting a specific name for FM because it could mean female male or it could mean feminist movement it could mean whatever you believe! The truth is we couldn't choose which one we liked better so you can be the judge of that! The FM is in the middle of the circle in the combined female and male signs. Mackenzie drew this on a paper and sent it to me so when I edit the video I can flash the logo on the screen whenever it is mentioned on film. I came up with the motto for FM " You have seen equalities in math but how about society? " I was doing math while I came up with this... But I think it has a bigger meaning since it is easy to find equalities in simple equations but why is it not seen throughout the world? Feminism is not about being better than males it is about being equal and receiving the same opportunities as males.

Carpool Karaoke

When we finished filming the last scene we decided that our video needed a fun way to end. We thought of the segment carpool karaoke and decided to incorporate that into our show. There will be a main son for each character even though some songs chosen could be used for all three books. Edna's song was before he cheats since she cheated a lot and did what made her happy. Aphra Behn sang wild things and Katniss sang fight song. I think fight song was a good way to end because all the female leads in these books were strong and inspiring. This segment was filmed in Summer's car and I played the song in my phone and we just sang the songs hopefully this won't be a pain to edit later when we need to match up the song and the lyrics later...

Instagrammies

For the last book the Awakening Edna Pointellier will be called from the audience to meet Cathy on stage for a segment called instagrammies. Cathy looks through her audiences Instagram and chooses the craziest ones to show on live television. Edna is chosen because throughout the book she cheats on her husband and has affairs. This catches Cathy's eye and every post on Edna's Instagram is explained and hopefully the class is interested in this segment and feels the need to read the book. After all that is what this whole project is about. We are not supposed to show how well we know the book we are supposed to get our classmates and other people interested in our books. We want our class to go through the same experiences we did when reading through the feminist pathway.

Aphra Behn

I have finally finished both books the Hunger Games and The Awakening. I have started Oronooko but I am running out of time I am still going to read it but for the ending and overall concepts I have not read yet summer will help fill me in for these parts of the project. For this book we will have the author cast as a viewer Aphra Behn. She will write a letter to Cathy asking for help. The letter is about how Aphra is a writer and she only gets paid a few cents. She tells her story and Cathy is touched by this. Cathy and FM our logo company sponsoring the Cathy show offers to pay all the publishing costs for Aphra. In this way we already have two of the books done and filmed one to go!

Filming

We decided to call our show Cathy. We filmed Cathy interviewing Katniss Everdeen. Cathy asked her questions like " why should we read the book rather than watch the movie" and "what is your role in the movie" so Katniss answers that in the book you feel as though you are in Katniss' head and experiences the games whereas in the movie you seem to feel like an outsider watching what's going on in the games you don't know what Katniss is truly thinking. In the movie Katniss is portrayed as a strong independent woman who if caring to those she loves and will do the toughest things in order to survive and return home. We filmed some action shots outside Summers house to make a short trailer for the movie as well. I imaging when complete the trailer will have a word flash on the screen such as "beauty" and then it cuts to the film of Katniss smelling a flower. Stuff like that will be incorporated into the trailer for it is not the main focus... The main focus is the interview.

Ellen Degeneres

We have finally decided on what our rabbit hole presentation will be about! So you know how Ellen Degeneres has a show.. Well she always interviews people and has fun segments on her show. Ellen herself is a very iconic strong female in our wold today so we decided that an imitation of her show would be perfect! We plan to do an interview of Katniss Everdeen for her new movie and then a letter from a viewer Aphra Behn for Oronooko and finally a segment called instagrammies where instead of going through people's facebooks she goes through her audiences Instagram which will briefly tell the story of Edna Pointellier. I hope this gets our classmates interested in the feminist pathway!

Quotes

We decided that the back of the shirts looked kind of empty so I thought that we should add a quote from the book. I looked up quotes about water and found a good one for The Awakening that talks about how water speaks to the soul. For the Hunger Games Mackenzie found a quote about how the games had changed Katniss Everdeens outlook on life and her life as well as her family and friends lives would be altered forever. The quotes were painted onto the shirts after they dried and I just used a different color of puffy paint for each shirt and wrote them by hand... I accidentally messed up on the Awakenings shirt but that's okay it doesn't look too bad.

Shirts

I have started working on the shirt for Hunger Games. Mackenzie and I were working on this project at my house. We decided to paint the iconic bow an arrow to symbolize Katniss Everdeens strength and confidence throughout the book. We also decided to add a flower to the bow and arrow. The flower symbolizes her care for her family and Peeta. Katniss always puts others before herself and she takes care of her friends and most importantly her family. For example when her dad died she took care of her mom and sister.

Water

We decided to make shirts for each book and Mackenzie and I read The Awakening first so we decided to put a diamond ring on the back which represents her marriage and former life. We filled the diamond with water because the book had a lot to do with water. Edna the main character learned how to swim and she found that in water she felt free and her true self. She also ended up dying in water when she swam as far as she could until she died. The water in the ring is escaping the ring and dripping down to show how Edna's personality and life was changing and becoming free from restraints. I think this symbol that we thought of had a lot of meaning and it was a simple image so it was easy to create.

Katniss

When finishing The Awakening I ended up enjoying it. It was a well written book and I also enjoyed the plot very much. I have also started hunger games and I loved it the first time I read it and I am still enjoying it. It grabs your attention from the very start of the book and I feel like I can relate to the character Katniss Everdeen because I feel like I also am a tough girl and I care about others and put them before myself. Katniss is selfless and determined. She is a very strong character and I want to be as strong as her in the future. Who knows maybe I will learn how to pick up a bow an arrow and actually be good at it!

The Awakening

I started with the Awakening by Kate Chopin. I like it because it's a short book so it would be easy to start with. I was too lazy to go to the library so I stole my sisters kindle instead! The book only cost a dollar on Amazon so I would say it was a great buy! I started to read on my kindle and I found that it was pretty easy to read. The story line was not hard to understand. In the beginning it was kind of boring I think I was just zoning out because the author was very descriptive and I would just be tired at some points. Eventually the book became very interesting with the main character cheating and having affairs was interesting. I thought this was very interesting because I am not that type of person so I cannot relate but going through her life was very interesting to me.

Book choices

We have picked 3 books to read for our plunge down the rabbit hole. We chose The Awakening, Oronooko and the Hunger Games. We are starting to read these books and we have no idea what we plan to do for our project yet. I think it would be best to read the books first. Mackenzie and I chose to read the awakening first and Summer wanted to read Oronooko . I have read the hunger games before and it was really good and it has a strong female character so I thought t would be perfect to add to our rabbit hole project.

Group

I decided to work with Mackenzie Hemming and Summer Scott on this project because they were both interested in the same pathway and I wanted to make sure I got collaboration points for my grade in this project ;) they are good friends and I trust them to follow through with their work and plans for our combined project. I am very excited to go down this pathway and I am intrigued by all the book choices there are. Of course we only have a couple weeks left for this project and so time might be an issue but some how this will all work out. We plan to finish the books in 2-3 weeks. And when we are halfway through the books we are going to brainstorm ideas on how to present

Feminist Pathway

When thinking about which pathway to choose a lot of different things came to mind. One reason was that the Feminist pathway was interesting and some of the books I was unfamiliar with and I wanted to get a better understanding. This was a perfect opportunity to read these books. Another reason is that most of my friends were going down the fantasy pathway which is also interesting but I wanted to be different since I know that I will eventually be inclined to read those books I would take this chance to read another pathway for this project and explore a pathway different from others to also entertain my classmates and get them interested in the feminist pathway as well.
